utah.edu
The twin children of a senior Los Angeles official were apprehended in the ICE riots on Sunday night, where they allegedly attacked a policeman with a deadly weapon.

Lucia Aguilar Cole, 26, who acts as the Community Growth and Economic Innovation Deputy for the Los Angeles City Council, was nabbed around 7pm along with her sister, Antonia, according to LA Sheriff's Department records.

The women are the daughters of Rick Cole - the city's existing Chief Deputy Controller and a former mayor of Pasadena. They were detained throughout discontent that saw protesters hurling rocks and other objects from a bridge on to the 101 Freeway, where squad car were placed listed below.

But it stays uncertain what the supposed fatal weapon was or why they were arrested.

Speaking at an anti-ICE demonstration on Sunday, Cole said he understood his daughters had been arrested.

'I have actually simply seen photos of my 2 daughters on a curb in downtown Los Angeles in handcuffs,' he told the crowd, according to Los Angeles publication. 'So I'm going to be figuring out where they are so I can go bail them out.'

Cole did not respond to a demand for remark from DailyMail.com.

Lucia, who goes by 'Luz' and utilizes 'they/them' pronouns, is also a staffer for LA City board member Ysabel Jurado, who triggered a scandal in October 2024 when she was taped during her project stating 'What's the rap verse? F ** k the police, that's how I see them,' in reaction to a concern about eliminating polices.

On Monday, Jurado told the LA Times that Aguilar had actually been put on unpaid leave.

'The accusations are deeply worrying and I take them very seriously,' the councilwoman said.

'While I appreciate the person's right to due procedure, I hold my group to the highest standards of conduct.'

As of Monday, the two daughters of the leading LA political family remained in the 77th Street prison after being booked and held on $50,000 bail.

According to law practice Cron, Israels & Stark, conviction for their declared offense can bring a jail sentence of between three and 5 years.

Their daddy Rick has actually spent 4 years as a senior official and leader in LA County, serving as Pasadena Mayor, Council member and City Manager of the cities of Azusa, Ventura and Santa Monica.

He currently works as the Chief Deputy Controller for the LA and previously worked as the city's Deputy Mayor for Budget and Innovation.

The riots in the city were sparked by a variety of raids by federal immigration authorities bought by the Trump Administration.

LA City board member Ysabel Jurado has placed Aguilar on overdue leave. 'The claims are deeply concerning and I take them very seriously,' she said

Unrest has covered the city's streets for three days and resulted in rioters encountering law enforcement as authorities officer have turned to using rubber bullets and firing tear gas

Trump sends out Marines in to LA riots and threatens to detain 'criminal' Gavin Newsom: Live updates

Unrest has actually spanned the city's streets for 3 days and led to rioters clashing with law enforcement, taking over the 101 freeway and setting cars on fire, while police responded by shooting tear gas and rubber bullets - with some catching reporters in the crossfire.

California leaders have actually knocked Trump for what they see as deliberately whipping up the conflict with unnecessary action, triggering more civil discontent by commandeering the National Guard from state control and sending out 2,000 troops into the city.

California Governor Gavin Newsom promised to sue the administration over the move which he called 'an unlawful act, an immoral act, an unconstitutional act' in an interview with MSNBC.

'He's intensified the conditions. He's lit the proverbial match,' Newsom stated.

'These anarchists that remain in there to create real issues, and they're just playing right into Donald Trump's hand. And they need to be called out. They require to be detained.

'It is incorrect to damage other individuals's residential or commercial property, and it is wrong to produce the conditions that only intensify this. But Donald Trump, at the end of the day, is the sponsor of these conditions.'

LA Council member Eunisses Hernandez was shot informing a crowd of anti-ICE protestors that the federal migration firm understands 'how quickly we set in motion, that's why they're altering methods.

'Because neighborhood defense works and our resistance has actually slowed them down before ... and if they're intensifying their methods then so are we. When they reveal up, we got ta appear even stronger.'

Hernandez doubled down on her of the anti-ICE protests in a television interview with NBCLA.

When asked by anchor Colleen Williams, 'Would you advise [protestors] to remain within the boundaries of the law out there?'

Hernandez replied, 'What I would say is that people who are out there objecting, be safe. Keep in mind that we need all neighborhood members to be able to "throw down" in future emergencies.'

California Governor Gavin Newsom has actually been a big critic of President Trump's decision to pirate the National Guard from state control and send out in 2,000 soldiers into the city, saying he is whipping up the dispute with unnecessary action

Luz Aguilar Cole says on their LinkedIn page that they are a 'Financial Activist', 'Environmentalist', and 'Affordable Housing Advocate'.

Luz worked as a research study expert for Pacific Community Ventures (PCV) in Oakland, California from September 2023 to February this year and is a graduate of the University of California, Davis.

Their bio on the website says they seek 'to weave together the crossways of social, economic, and environment justice to attend to systemic issues facing our local and global neighborhood.'

Luz's boss, Councilwoman Jurado, is a kept in mind critic of LA's authorities department.

During the campaign for her council seat in 2015, Jurado was tape-recorded being inquired about abolishing cops.

'What's the rap verse? F- the police, that's how I see 'em,' she reacted.

She later told ABC7 News: 'I priced estimate a lyric from a song that's become part of a larger conversation on systemic oppression and police accountability for years. But it was simply a lyric ... My commitment to public safety stays as strong as ever.'

After her election to LA council district 14, Jurado was caught in another controversy when she was photographed appearing to be asleep at her chamber seat during a closed February session.

Jurado informed ABC7: 'It appears like I read, and if undoubtedly I did doze off, I believe this won't be the very first or last of the human minutes that I have as a council member,'
